Decisions

After a few months sitting in the WIP bag I've finally decided what to do with my Feather and Fan shawl and my Icarus shawl.

I've been finding it very difficult to find rovings that will match my Feather and Fan, so I've frogged the whole thing and will be adding some of the pound of brown Romney in between each of the other colors of roving. I'm not sure if I should have big stripes of the brown in between each color, or if I should alternate every other row. What do you guys think?

Icarus is also on it's way to frog pond. I'm saving up to purchase enough of Knitting Notions Bamboo/Merino blend (a fingering weight) to reknit Icarus. The laceweight is just too fiddly for me right now. I don't have the patience after work to knit laceweight for long periods of time. So that's that.

Oh... and I may have made a large purchase for my own Clapotis... ;)

Year of the UFO

1) Sooooo... instead of sitting down and finishing any of the projects already on the needles, I cast on for Koolhaas designed by Jared over at BrooklynTweed.

I just couldn't help myself! The call was just too strong. (And it didn't help that most of my other projects are in time out anyway). I'm making it for my friend who was supposed to be the recipient of the Skull hat. Obviously since the hat was way too small, another one had to be cast on.

So far, this hat has been in time out twice already. I'm knitting it with Araucania Nature Wool, purchased from The Loopy Ewe. Since it's a fingering weight yarn, I'm knitting double stranded, which is causing me all sorts of problems, but I really like the finished product so far. I may have to knit another for me. (Maybe double stranded Dream in Color Smooshy?)

2) K3P1 Socks are still on the needles for husband. I have 1/2 of the first socks gussets picked up. For some reason I stopped and there it is.


3) I finally started the second Southwestern Sock for my mom, which is good because her birthday is in a week.


4) Icarus is finished with the first repeat of the first chart. (And got cast aside for the hat). I'll have to start picking this one up again.


5) The Feather and Fan shawl has been put on hold for now. Mostly because it's been really warm here and the desire for a comfy shawl has been thrown out the window.


6) Dad's scarf... well, still otn. Still unsure if I'm going to frog it and start all over again. Still no picture.

Eventually.

Eventually I will complete all the projects that I have on the needles. Eventually. (Hopefully). Right now it seems like there are so many things that I need to finish up, like my dad's scarf (still), that it seems like nothing is moving forward.

Icarus is moving extremely slowly at one or two rows at a time. I'm almost finished with chart 1 the first time around. So far so good. I haven't had any more major mishaps since last Friday. ::knocks on wood::

The Feather and Fan shawl is also moving forward at a pace of one or two rows per session...

Maybe it's just me, or maybe it was the extended weekend, but I am somewhat disappointed. I assumed that a long weekend meant that I would get more knitting accomplished and would be well on my way to having a FO for January. But it seems like I'm stuck, with all my projects being firmly in the middle of the project. (And sometimes it seems like they will never ever be finished!)

Perhaps I should focus on one and only one at a time until each and every one is complete... (with the exception of socks of course, because I need to have something portable).

While I'm speculating I guess I should assume that my dad's scarf should be the first off of the needles.

We'll see how that goes.

This weekend I did manage to have time to finish 4 oz of The Yarn Wench's roving.

Details: Yarn Wench in Hydrangea (Faukland roving?) 4oz. Two Ply. Aran Weight.

Hmmm... I guess I did get something accomplished this weekend! :)

Photoshoot Accidents and WiPs

I ran home today to take pictures of WiPs and then to blog. I got to my husband's sock (as of this moment, still unblogged) and I pulled out a DPN! How it happened, I have no idea. I thought it was the loose DPN so the few seconds there was confusion, and then horror. For sure I thought the whole thing was going to unravel and my 30+ rows of ribbing would be ruined. My whole plan to come home, blog quickly and then work on Icarus. For whole minutes I saw this plan disappear. But I didn't panic (outwardly, there was mass chaos internally) I carefully picked up the sock, and I picked up stitches.

That may not seem like a big deal to most, but to me... to me my friends, it was a huge victory! :)

So... now to the progress:

Icarus. Ripped back twice and up to row 20 on the first chart.


Feather and Fan Shawl. Slowly moving forward. I think I'm going to need more roving for this one. Haven't found another colorway yet, we'll see how this one turns out.
