Yesterday husband and I spent the afternoon together playing in the dirt. We are going to try our hand at a vegetable garden. Last year was our first try and it did not have a very happy ending at all. The onion sprouts were accidentally cooked in a tiny tray greenhouse, and the squirrels uprooted pretty much everything else. We do have one pot of steak tomatoes that made it through last year, and there are already flowers and tiny green tomatoes on it!!! (There is hope!!)
For now everything has been potted in trays and placed in the greenhouse until they absolutely have to be moved out. Hopefully this will give them a slightly better chance against the squirrels. We will be checking temperatures daily to make sure we don't accidentally cook these as well... luckily the greenhouse has two vents we can keep open during the daytime to allow some air circulation.
Onions and Tomatoes.
Cucumbers and Green Peppers.
Please ignore the middle of the greenhouse... we ran out of brick pavers. We also have to finish building shelving to put the plants on, but for now the baby veggies are safe!
